Your Journey Prepares You - See Your Path Clearly

Sometimes we look back at a difficult periods in our life and finally see why they had to happen.

At the time, it doesn’t usually feel that way.

When something doesn't work out, plans change, or life seems to take you further away from where you thought you were going, it can feel frustrating.

You might question whether you're on the right path.
You might wonder why things couldn't have been easier or why you couldn't have avoided all the mess and gone straight to where you wanted to be.

Often, it's only once you come out the other side of an experience that you understand what it gave you.

If you went directly from A to Z, think about everything you might have missed in between.

The people you met, the opportunities you didn't know you needed, the experiences that changed your
perspective, the mistakes that gave you wisdom, and the challenges that slowly built your confidence and resilience.

There are so many things we learn through experience that we simply couldn't understand by being told.

The stepping stones…

When you're focused on a destination, each stepping stone can feel like it’s slowing you down.

You might think, Why am I still here? Why hasn't this happened yet? Why do I have to go through this?

The stepping stones aren't necessarily keeping you from your destination, but instead are preparing you for it.

The universe won’t reveal the entire path at once, because you only need strength for the step you’re standing on.

You might have needed something to fail before you became clear on what you actually want.

Maybe you needed to spend time feeling lost before you learnt how to trust yourself and trust in the timing of all things.

Once you arrive at your destination you are not the same person who first started walking towards it.

Divine timing…

We often think that if we know what we want, we should be able to have it immediately.

Wanting something and being ready for it aren't the same thing.

Sometimes an opportunity could land directly in front of you, and you could be blind to it, or not recognise its value.

Or maybe you do recognise a good opportunity when it’s presented to you, but you don’t yet have the confidence, boundaries, experience, or self-belief required to hold onto it.

That's not a failure, or weakness. It’s understanding and growth.

The journey gives you the wisdom to know what to do when you finally arrive.

Looking back…

Think about something that once felt incredibly difficult.

Something you wanted to change, or something that didn't go according to plan.
Where did it eventually lead you?

This doesn't mean every difficult experience needs to be labelled as a blessing or that we have to be grateful for everything painful that happens to us.

Sometimes difficult things are just difficult. But with time, we can often recognise the growth that happened alongside them.

If you can see where you developed strength and clarity, the path behind you starts to make a little more sense.

Looking back:

  1. Think of a challenging period in your past. What felt difficult or uncertain about it at the time?

  2. What didn’t work out?

  3. Where did that experience eventually lead you?

  4. What people, opportunities, or experiences entered your life because your original plans changed?

  5. What did you learn about yourself through that period?

  6. What strength, confidence, boundaries, or wisdom do you have now because of what you experienced?

  7. If you had been able to skip that chapter completely, what valuable things might you also have missed?

Trusting where you are now…

The same perspective can be applied to whatever you're moving through today.

Maybe there is an area of your life that feels uncertain, something isn't happening as quickly as you hoped, or you can't yet see where your current path is taking you.

You don't always need to know.

Pay attention to what this period is teaching you and notice who you're becoming through the experience.

Looking forward:

  1. What currently feels uncertain, slow, or different from what you had planned?

  2. Instead of asking, Why isn't this happening yet?, what might change if you asked, What is this period teaching me?

  3. What qualities might you be developing right now that will support where you're going next?

  4. Is there a destination or dream you're trying to rush towards?

  5. What is the next stepping stone in front of you right now?

  6. Can you allow yourself to focus on that step without needing to know exactly where every step after it will lead?

  7. Are you seeing your path with tunnel vision? If you released your grip on the ‘goal’, could other pathways and opportunities reveal themselves to you?

  8. What energy and intention do you choose to embody as you work towards your goal?
